Brown Lemur

I was getting a little bored with the brown paper so I thought it was time to use the white again before I forget how to! Unusually for me, I've included a bit of background too as it makes the light around the edges of the fur stand out better. This is a Brown Lemur from Madagascar - after cats, lemurs are my favourite animals, and I met my husband in Madagascar so it's always been a bit special for me!

The drawing is done on Winsor & Newton cartridge paper (in their square format leather bound journal) and I used a combination of Derwent and Polychromos pencils with the usual addition of black and white from the Luminance range.

Wow, Felicity, this one's terrific! I thought it was a photo upon first perusal. The soft edge is a really nice touch.

I had a feeling this was going to be spectacular before I opened it, Felicity but it's actually SPECTACULAR, STUNNING, AMAZING. Well I hope you get my drift.:) The depth and shine of the eyes was the first thing that struck me but then the natural colour and texture of the fur made me think maybe you'd posted the reference photograph by mistake. Beautiful drawing as usual. I don't know how you do it.

Lovely drawing Felicity, done with your usual delicate touch! The background works really well to add some depth. I'm warming to lemurs now - it's those gorgeous eyes!

Nice to see you posting again, Felicity. Though I do agree with you about not posting so frequently. I do that myself, you may have noticed :)

Fabulous drawing, too. I love the look of this little fellow!

Happy Wednesday!
