View from the sofa

More TV sketches - Obama, top, and Lewis Hamilton below.

I didn't make a note of the names but these faces were on Sky News. Clockwise from top left, a lady talking about the Latino voters, a former Democrat presidential candidate, and the man who 'discovered' Lewis Hamilton as a child racer.

Still trying to do a decent sketch of Adam Boulton of Sky News.

Top, Sky Sports presenter Charlie Thomas and my fave celebrity chef, Jamie Oliver below. The purpose of these is do pare down the portraits to the bare minimum whilst retaining the essential features that makes that person unique. For some faces lines alone are enough, in others the shading is equally important (for instance the shading on Lewis Hamilton's cheeks). I'm finding it very interesting and quite addictive!

Awesome talent to be able to capture all these characters from the TV, Felicity.

Do you have TiVo or something where you can pause live TV, or do you just do this from observation while they are moving? I have to have a still subject or a photo.

Jeanetter, yes I can live pause. For the news presenters I try to catch them without it as they are fairly static. Some of the later drawings, like Wallender I have paused, but I'm trying to test myself to see how much I can get down and how much info I can retain in my memory. It's 'exercising' to try and shape up for drawing in public.
