Feet

I'm afraid the blog has been very quiet recently as I've been practising (not very successfully) with skin tones. Doing them from photos was relatively straightforward (the few I've done anyway) but I've been struggling with pale skin in cool light and trying to find some sort of system that works for me. It took a while to do this drawing as my feet got so cold every time I tried that eventually it just got to a stage where I'd had enough and it was 'good enough'! I didn't resolve the cool shadow areas to my satisfaction so there is some way to go before I can put my feet up!

i'm really enjoying your color drawings Fiz. it is inspiring to read your insight about each of them and how much you strive for a result that you like. not being totally satisfied it's just a sign that you keep growing as an artist, but let me tell you that these are terrific!

Thanks Gabi! I try to describe the mental process too, each one is different and each one another step along the way. I'm often said to be too self-critical but I'd give up if there was nothing left to say!

I like what you've done here, Felicity. It also sounds as though your struggle is going to pay off eventually, as you're clearly approaching it with a great willingness to learn and master what you need to know ... There's almost nothing I love more than the process of learning! Just have to remind MYSELF of that the next time I'm getting overly self-critical.
