It's suddenly become quite warm and sunny here in Geneva but about 2 or 3 weeks ago the first big bumble bees were spotted in the garden. It seemed a bit early since so few things had really flowered. We had left a couple of our hanging fuschias out over the winter, and they had dried mid-flower as it got colder. It was strange to see this year's early bees buzzing around them looking for pollen - I wonder what on earth they made of these strange things!
In a Moleskine watercolour sketchbook using mainly Yellow Ochre and Sepia. The more I looked, the more I noticed that there were hints of the colours they used to be, so there are little touches of Ultramarine Violet and Opera Rose.

Oh, how lovely, Felicity. Isn't it amazing that even when flowers are way past their prime, they're still so beautiful. You so captured them here.
Thanks Suzanne, yes, they look lovely even like this!
Hi Felicity,
So delicately and beautifully rendered... as usual! You have such a talent for making ordinary things look very beautiful.
